Start With a Print You Love
Something I will readily admit is that I am a well-seasoned shopper—and have been most of my life.
I have always enjoyed fashion; for most of my 61 years, I have been in the clothing trade and 26 + of those with Caroline Eve, and I can honestly say that some new season's fashions arrive and you can get you all excited, and some simply just pass by. It is often the winter season that is harder to get excited about, as it so often lacks newness, colour, or vibrancy. However, this new season's fashions have a lot happening. Whether it’s the new colours, the gorgeous prints to choose from, or the lovely new feminine-looking styles, there is plenty to look forward to.
I have already started putting my new autumn wardrobe together. It began with a purchase of one new item, which led me to go through my wardrobe to work out a ‘plan of attack’, so to speak! I’m looking at what is still good, and what isn’t, finding fresh ways to style items I already own and deciding what I could add to bring everything up to date. Some items you can certainly keep, but you can often wear them in a completely new way or combine with a new fashion colour to give them a new lease on life.
Talking about colour, there are some fabulous fashion shades around, and the biggest for the season would be Brown and Berry—and I mean BIG! These are the new ‘must-have’ colours, and they aren’t just appearing here and there. Have you noticed that just about every shoe, boot, and handbag now comes in brown, and so many in berry? It’s such a dramatic shift from everything coming in black. I personally have so much black, and I do love it, so I am going to bring brown into my wardrobe to wear with my black pieces and rework my look that way.
I also have some grey, which I used to wear with black, but I will now pair the grey with brown for a fresh new combination I’ve seen and loved. I will be very intentional about my winter wardrobe, though; it pays not to just buy random colours or items simply because they are a good price if you have no use for them. Ideally, you want to create a wardrobe where everything works together, giving you plenty of options from existing pieces and adding new garments to pull it all together for a fresh look.
I hope I have given you some ideas to get you excited for the season ahead! In my next blog, I will be showing you another beautiful dress and print—this one is black-based with berry. It is a super gorgeous dress, so I am looking forward to showing you this.
