The Big Question: What Will you Be Wearing on Christmas Day
I was talking to my husband this morning while getting out of bed to come and write this, and of course, he asked what I was going to be talking about this week. My answer to him was, “What do you wear on Christmas Day?”
After a pause where he had obviously been in deep thought about how he can contribute to this, he came to me with, “It would have to be stretchy, wouldn’t it?” ( haha ) Now that’s a man’s answer to the perfect outfit for Christmas Day.
Although I did laugh at this most important issue that Peter raises, he might be a little right, in the fact that whatever you’re wearing, you do want to be comfortable for the day. I would probably more think about the lightness of the garment rather than the tightness but comfort on this day is priority, so we need to think about what we’re doing, whether it be hosting and spending most of the time in the kitchen or taking the day off and letting someone else do the cooking and so this enables you to dress a little differently perhaps. Personally, I will be cooking, and we are dining outside, so I have chosen to wear an easy-care dress that is very loose and cool, which I can add a sunhat to later when we are just lazing away the afternoon over some cool drinks, perhaps.
On Christmas day, I have learnt to get up and get myself ready for the day reasonably early, otherwise I am forever going to have a shower and constantly get side-tracked with jobs to do. So getting ready first makes better sense to me, plus I always have a fear that someone’s just going to pop in and I am still in my nightie without a bra on! So, I like to get myself ready first, then I am ready for the day, whatever that may bring. I personally like and have chosen to wear a dress, as they are so very easy and comfortable to wear, or as Peter would put it, no tight waistband. You’ll look and feel good for the day. It’s all in one, and you’re done.
In all our Caroline Eve stores at present, we have such a huge variety of dresses, from lovely easy wear no ironing to linen blends with gorgeous, vibrant and bright colours. Actually, the range of dresses in our stores is just phenomenal, and this week, to add to this, we have 25% off them as well, making that personal purchase for ourselves just that much easier on the pocket. It can be an expensive time of year for us all, but most of our dresses are all very well priced and then to have the extra 25% off that certainly helps further.
Anyhow, whatever you’re up to on Christmas Day, it’s good to have time to think about what you’re wearing beforehand and be a bit organised. We have lots of great summer garments that may be more suitable for what your Christmas looks like. Last year, Peter and I were out on a boat, so I was just in a swimsuit and sarong most of the day, but it’s often nice to have something a little special and treat ourselves to at this time, if we can.
