In our Caroline Eve stores, we presently have a good assortment of striped or checked shirts in a few colours. A striped shirt is always great to have in any wardrobe, but what I like about these new shirts, is that they are shaped and shorter giving you much better style than a basic shirt as some basic shirts can look a bit too casual or end up looking a little manish even.

The Cotton Rich shirts have stretch, so for a start that is a real bonus making them really comfortable to wear. Being a little shorter, shaped and with different style sleeves to choose from leads you to a neat and polished look. We have had these shirts before but this season they are in cotton stretch plus we have a nice array of colours and styles, and so this week I have chosen one of these shirts as I would like to show you how easy and versatile these little shirts are to compliment anyone’s wardrobe.

Angela is wearing shirt style 6161YY Dark Navy (but it is very dark, almost grey/black) it has a 3/4 sleeve with a little gather at the sleeve hem for detail. Nice and crisp without any pockets. I thought I would show the easiest way first and of course, a striped shirt always looks fabulous with white denim jeans, and this season for an update you could update with the wide-leg coloured denim. I have then paired it with either a black denim jacket or a dark denim jacket, depending on what you may have or prefer. A very smart classic look that always looks fabulous, fresh and crisp.

Wearing this shirt with skirts is ideal, also as you don’t have all that bulk to tuck into your skirt waistbands. Simply changing the style of the skirt and footwear makes the shirt very versatile for casual or a bit more dressy. For a casual skirt look, I have used our coloured cotton skirt, in the very on-trend colour -Green. Green, especially this Kelly-type is a big colour for the season, it makes the perfect scenario to add some fashion colour fun. You could wear this cotton skirt even with sneakers, without the belt and leave it out. For a more polished look in a skirt, I went with another high-fashion colour for the summer months - pink! This gorgeous full skirt with the self-tie belt lends itself to a more dressy occasion and the shoe choice helps with that too. Then the third look for the skirt, was another new style skirt, with natural buttons for an elegant look.

Wear these shirts with a skirt and pants. Tailored pants, denim jeans and you can even wear shorts with them too.

Who knew such a little shirt, could have such a big role in our wardrobes …..obviously they can be the perfect staple.
