Street Style Stars, The Quilted Jacket

Last year, when I was in London, I couldn't get over how many gorgeous, quilted-style jackets were in stores.

There were shops you could spot from a long way off, selling quilted jackets in so many glorious prints, all hanging outside or displayed on market stalls, making a super colourful spectacle in the street. Of course, the quilted jacket originated from India, hence the beautiful fabrics such as block prints (which I just love), softer prints, florals, stripes, as well as plains.

With the jacket originally coming from India, but now Europe's fashion houses seem to have taken over this and are considered the new birthplace for these style jackets, as they have become an integral part of Nordic and European fashion. Huge European brands have all made their own version of the Quilted jacket in their own signature fabrications, and Caroline Eve is no different, keeping you up with what is happening overseas and being able to bring them to you at a reasonable price.

The beauty of the Quilted jacket is how it is to be styled - the wearability of it is a little different, as they often come in glorious prints, and it is extremely acceptable to mix and match these printed jackets with other prints. It is a whole kind of boho feel or vibe to them. These jackets are certainly having their moment, and they are making their mark by being able to wear them everywhere with everything. They are beautifully light to wear without the weight and the bulk of a normal jacket. Typically, they have a cropped silhouette, often collarless, with a button closure, which often is made a feature of, whether it be a big button, toggle, or something with a little unusual aesthetic, but these jackets are really all about the fabric and print.

We have a few styles in-store at present, and my absolute favourite would be our printed jackets, which both come with a small collar, button closure, and patch pockets. Beautifully light fabrication in 100% Polyester with a base of Navy, making them ideal to pop with denim. Two completely different prints, one being Navy and Berry Geometric print and the other a floral aptly named Indigo Garden. Both jackets come in sizes 10-22 and are priced at $129.99. The ideal jacket if you just want something a little bit special and different from the norm. These are jackets that, to me, look happy!

Another style that caught my attention has a more countryside feel; this quilted jacket just reminds me of either horse country, the Royals, or the English countryside. These are plain quilted designs again in 100% cotton with a cord collar, and brass look domes for that country chic look. Pair these jackets with some chunky knitwear or flannel shirts, and even perhaps a vest to finish the look. They are available in either Navy with a cord Olive collar or Olive with a Navy cord Collar. Sizes 10-22 and selling for $129.99. This is a very smart, lightweight jacket that could be added to any stylish wardrobe.

There are also a few more plain styles available. One is a classic design with a collar and button-up detail, made from 100% cotton chambray. This style comes in sizes 10–20 and is priced at $119.99, complete with patch pockets for an easy, everyday look.

For something a little different, there is an edge-to-edge design with patch pockets, and a shorter length—ideal if you prefer a cropped fit or are on the smaller side. This jacket is available in two colours, Cocoa and Dark Indigo, both in softer tones.
